There is a great quote which reads, “Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and common sense” – Buddha. This is about listening to and honoring your own truth and inner wisdom and applying it, both within and without.
When focussing within ourselves, being true to self requires complete honesty and awareness of our thoughts and feelings, strengths and weaknesses and also knowing we always have a choice, should we identify areas which require healing. By accepting, loving and trusting ourselves we are completely open to seeing the truth – not through judgment, but through compassionate, detached observation!
It’s one thing to be optimistic, but it’s also imperative to be grounded and realistic. Many people are focussed upon optimism and positive affirmations which is wonderful, but not enough for effective healing if we ignore and push down any ‘negative’ thoughts or feelings. By learning to acknowledge and accept them, we acknowledge and accept the truth. This is quite empowering as we both acknowledge where we are at, and where we choose to be. Therefore, for empowering affirmations, ensure you also include the truth. For example, “Even though I have this illness (truth), I choose to be in optimal health and wellbeing (positive affirmation)”. This is very effective when combined with E.F.T. (Emotional Freedom Technique) tapping and the additional words, ‘as I deeply and completely love and accept myself’. As we acknowledge and accept the truth within, we begin to seek more of it, searching for truth in every aspect of our lives, as well as the world around us.
Currently there is so much information out there – especially on the internet! You may find that you receive some information that doesn’t resonate with you at one point in your life, and then receive the same information at a later stage and discover that then it resonates with you, completely. Or it could occur in reverse, in that once something served you well, and now it no longer resonates with your truth. What is important is to seek that which resonates with you at any given moment. No matter when or where the information originated from, be aware of how you feel when you see, read or hear something, and acknowledge your thoughts and emotions just as you would for yourself – within. Through your intuition, allow your own truth and inner wisdom to surface and flow into all areas of your being – mind, body, heart and spirit, and beyond – into all areas of your life and even out into the world.
We are all human and we all go through experiences throughout life. Sometimes we utilise information from others and put into action things that do not serve our highest good. We sometimes make mistakes, but we can only ever do the best we can with the knowledge, skills and tools that we have at that time. What then presents are wonderful opportunities for us to learn, heal and grow.
Do you have a desire to be completely self honest and express YOUR TRUTH to yourself and all others?! When you value this higher than the possible response of any other person, you begin to live in love, light and truth.
