Universal Law

Now in the third millennium our hopes for health, happiness, love and peace, remain the
same as throughout history. What differs is our conception of life itself and what constitutes
a human being. For ancient man, the cultivation of an inner life, following the laws of nature
was the means to health and happiness. In this modern world however we are often in
pursuit of a successful outer life, which we believe will bring us happiness, love and meaning
into our life.

Science has given us some insights on the Laws of the Universe but we can also rely on
ancient wisdom. Ancient civilizations did not depend on technology, but on a direct
observation of nature. They understood that life began with light, which we now perceive to
be matter.

How light becomes matter, however, is the hot topic for both science and any spiritual
pursuit. How can we and everything we see that looks so solid possibly be just light? And
what is this light? Obviously not the light we now see coming from the sun because there
were no stars at the birth of the universe.

So the ancients understood that whatever this light may be, it is not the same light that
gives colour to our world, but possibly something more intangible, ethereal, and yes,
spiritual. Science, explains that the universe began with light, but afterwards they part ways.
Science is still trying to figure out how light became the first particles of matter, while older
traditions like Taoism understood that the original unified field of energy polarized into two
components that were named the yin (negative) and yang (positive) energies. From this
highly polarized state, the inevitable attraction and collusion created the conditions for
matter to form - the Big Bang.

The union of the yin and yang energies gave birth to the five elements of water, wood, fire,
metal and earth. (The water element germinates life, the wood element makes it grow, the
fire element makes it flourish, the metal element solidifies it, and the earth element
preserves it.) This is how the material world and the whole universe was created.
Therefore universal law is the harmony of Yin and Yang & the five elements which support
all of creation with invisible light & energy. Before creation, before the world of matter,
there was emptiness. But what science hasn’t yet understood is that this emptiness was
filled with unlimited love and light.

The vibration of this light and energy is what we call Qi or life force energy. It is the invisible
light which created the physical universe and animates all things. It can be called pure
consciousness and it has a very specific vibration ; it supports the law set up by the universe.

How do we know we are following Universal Law?

When we follow universal law health and happiness prevail, not only for us but for those
around us. When we don’t follow universal law or we are against the universal law, there is
pain and unhappiness. Following universal law is making harmony with the universe, with
the earth and with all living beings.

In more spiritual terms, the Universal Law is the system the universe set up to support life.
Before everything was created the law of Yin and Yang was set in place in order to take care
of creation.

For example, night and day, the days of the week, months in the year & the four seasons are
all part of the invisible system set up by the universe to support our life. Human beings have
just come up with the terminology to help us understand and follow it.

The ancients taught us that in order to follow universal law we should pay attention to our
body. Everything starts from our health. If the food we eat makes us healthy then we should
eat it. If in turn it creates illhealth, we should avoid it. The way we eat is also important.
Every time we eat something we should feel unconditional respect and gratitude to the
universe, which allows us to have these precious material things to support our life. Based
on this practice we can learn more about our original mind and the original mind of
universe.

Every day without realising it we are following universal law. For example, every day we get
up in the morning and go to work. In order to be healthy it is important to rise early and be
active. During the night we should rest. If you break this pattern, at the beginning it might
not be a problem but over time it can start to have more detrimental effects on our health
and state of wellbeing. Everything is balance which in turn creates natural flow.

Learning about the Laws of the Universe is learning to support ourselves, others and the
world in the way the universe intended. By following the laws of the universe and doing
what we have to do happily, we can create a better world for humanity and live in harmony
with our planet.
