Second by nano-second, our souls are giving us useful guidance. If we are dedicated to hearing our inner soul, long-term life changes can be quite dynamic. The discovery of what your soul needs brings delight, surprise and a sense of wonder. When you start actively listening to your soul, a different world emerges. You are under the guidance of something larger, something ‘more’ something, which feels compellingly mystical and cannot be explained. You will be stepping into an unusual zone of discovery. Will you find what you are looking for? Will you find time and energy to understand your life lessons? Will you have the trust, patience, awareness, courage, dedication, desire and truly active inner listening skills to move from your ego based life to a more soul centered awareness? Or, will your world be rocked and your belief system challenged beyond comfort?
Any or all of these scenarios can happen and they can overlap in the process. Soul discovery equals change yet it does not mean you will instantly become a fully enlightened soul. By questioning your soul needs, you will be lighter and more content as you become conscious of the variety of choices in your life.
To hear your soul needs:
Ask yes or no questions –This involves quietly and sincerely asking your soul what is needed and trusting the yes or no answer immediately heard. Here are a few questions to start with: shall I eat now or later; does my body need this food; shall I go this way or that; what is best for me to wear; shall I work with this company and much more. Be specific in your questioning, stop to listen and then with courage, follow the guidance received.
Be neutral – when following your soul guidance, stay neutral and open to all experiences – either exceptional or none at all. Once you expect something to happen, you pop into the world of ego wanting. If you get the soul yes to take a job and it turns into a disappointment rather than excitement, figure out what you learned (maybe you needed to know that field was not for you). If you wear red and it does not attract the mate you want, do not fret. You are practicing the art of listening to your soul.
Slow down – take frequent reflective pauses and deep belly breaths to be in the moment as you switch from your noisy, busy ego (who is used to be #1).
Turn off most outside influences and noise – it is hard to hear your soul when your external world is filled with noise. Keep the need for radio, TV or internet news and views a low priority. Find your way to being quiet whether it is meditation, exercise, creative outlets or prayer.
Be in nature – as best you can, take a walk around the block to smell the air, listen to the birds and be grateful for all that Mama Earth offers us. Look up at the sky and marvel at what is unseen. This can switch your brain from noise to quiet quickly.
Be grateful – when you desire to actively listen to the whispers of your soul and take actions from the guidance heard, follow up with a Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. Your guides, angels and the Universe at large love to know you are listening. They will send more and more guidance to you when you are gratefully receptive.
