Awakening Ancestral Seeds

Many of us spend a lot of time clearing our family trauma, the conditioning and family patterns that no longer serve us. Such incredibly important work. We are the best and the worst of our parents. Some family patterns and trauma have been passed down through many generations. What an honour to have the opportunity to heal this trauma and transform the experience of future generations.

It is also important to honour the gifts and strengths of our parents and ancestors, for we can carry these forward with pride and humility. Intelligence, wisdom, creativity, strength, and resilience also come through our ancestral lineage. Thank you Mama, thank you Papa, you have given me life. To overcome fear and shyness I was once advised to feel my ancestors standing behind me, supporting and encouraging me. It is now my role to speak for them and carry their wisdom.

A beautiful practice to honour our ancestors and family lineage is to create an altar. Candles, incense, sacred objects as well photos of and items that belonged to parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, or any of our ancestors. The purpose of this altar is to serve as a reminder. It reminds us to offer gratitude for the gifts we have received, and to pray that those patterns which no longer serve us may be forgiven and released.

Then we may stand fully supported and empowered to live our own purpose. To be able to honour our role as the ancestors of future generations. To experience our wholeness and connection not only with the past but also with the future.

Imagine the Earth seven generations into the future. Imagine that there is an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, and socially just human presence on the planet. Imagine the children of the future hearing stories of their ancestors and how these ancestors played an important role in the consciousness revolution that miraculously transformed the crisis faced by the Earth and all her children.

That’s us. We are those ancestors. We are alive at a time of great crisis and of great opportunity. We each have a role to play. We are alive at this time because our gifts are needed and we have a unique and important purpose.

Every spiritual practice we commit to and personal transformation we experience has ripple effects across the cosmos. We are that connected. Every choice we make and action we take has impact at least seven generations into the future. We are that powerful.
